On 31 August 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Y. A. held an event on “The life and work of A. Alish and M. Jalil”.
Musa Jalil and Abdulla Alish are great poets of Tatar people. Besides poetry, they left the example of courage and heroism. During the Great Patriotic War in 1943, Abdulla Alish met Musa Jalil in a German prison camp near Berlin. They knew each other before the war. Very soon, Jalil, Alish and their friends were engaged in underground activities. Risking his life Alish carried out responsible tasks of the underground organization in the heart of fascism – Berlin. He actively participated in drafting and printing of antifascist leaflets. Alish was the “right hand” of Jalil. Trial of Jalil and his fellows took place in March 1944 in Dresden. The patriots were executed on 25 August 1944 in Berlin Pletzensee Prison. Not only poetry of two writers but also their life and tragic fate are examples of resilience.
The event was held to foster respect and develop a sense of pride in the heroic past of our homeland because once again we remember the feat of heroes-antifascists – Jalil and his companions.
