On 22 August 2020, the head of museum and education department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve R. Z. Vagapov held for the guests of the museum an interactive lesson on “Traditions of tea party”.
The most popular Tatar drink is tea – Chinese, Indian and Ceylon tea. Merchants brought it from the East since ancient times. First, tea was a drink only for the rich but over time it became public and favorite across populations.
In all seasons – in severe frosts or in the heat – we cannot do without a cup of fragrant tea, which strengthens a spirit and softens a heart, diminishes the sense of fatigue and evokes a thought, makes laziness go away and refreshes the body.
At the event, the participants heard the history of emergence of tea in the region and talked about rich traditions of tea party of Tatars – descendants of Volga Bulgars. The guests also knew about one of the recipes of Bolgar tea.
