On 7 August 2020, a methodist of the museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. held an event on “Secrecy of the manuscript” in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
At the event, the audience knew about the development of Bulgar-Tatar writing, its importance in the history of Volga Bulgaria and the role of Islam in the establishment of the state.
Tatar manuscripts and printed books represent various spheres of human existence and culture: fiction, folklore, history, medicine, economy, pedagogy, religion, ethnography, politics and art. Fiction constitutes a significant part of Tatar literature. It has more than a thousand years of existence. The history of a Tatar book is primarily the history of our people. Joys and miseries, hopes and aspirations, life experience and philosophy of Tatars are reflected in it.
One of the monuments of medieval Tatar literature is a lyric-epic poem “Kisekbash”. There is a manuscript “Kisekbash” of XIX century in the exposition of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. This book was popular in Tatar families. It was copied many times and then published with a large print run. The book was also included in training programs of students in madrasah as a training manual on the History of Literature. “Kisekbash kitaby” or “The book about a severed head” was created in XIII-XIV centuries. According to experts, the poem was influenced by the works of Farid ad-Din Attar – the famous Sufi sheikh of XII century. The poem itself consists of 270 lines of verse.
