On 4 August 2020, in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization the exhibition “Star cycle” opened. It included the works of a Member of Artists Union of Republic of Tatarstan and Russia Timirshin Albert Ilyasovich. The exhibit is devoted to the 50th anniversary of the artist’s birthday.
Researchers suggested that calendars in culture of Tatar people existed already since the period of Volga Bulgaria. There was a lunisolar and so-called “animal calendar”, in which every year had the name of a certain animal. The first Bulgar calendars were not the monuments of written culture.
The ancient Bulgar calendar in the works of the artist A.Timirshin is of particular interest. Pictures are made in a painting technique with images of 12 stylized animals on a textured background. Visitors of the exhibition being acquainted with the paintings had an opportunity to learn more about the history of peoples of the Volga region and expand their horizons.
A research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Paramonycheva Tatiana opened the exhibition.
