On 19 June 2020, a research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Muhametshin I. D. held a cognitive video class on “Simferopol treasure” in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. At the lesson, the audience learnt about the history of discovery of the treasure, its significance for historical science and connection with the history of the Volga region during the Golden Horde.
At the lesson, particular attention was paid to women’s headwear, reconstruction of which is presented in the museum exposition. Details of this refined headwear consisted of 19 figured gold plaques and a plaque on the top of the headpiece decorated with gems, pearls and six-petal rosettes strengthened on curved rods. At the centre of the finial, there are two beads placed one above the other, and through the middle of them a rod with a broken top passes. Probably the rod ended with a tube where feathers were inserted.
Items from Simferopol treasure amaze with a variety of technology for making them. Here you can see scan, granulation, engraving, niello, gilding, coining and enamel. Discovery of Simferopol treasure demonstrates the diversity of contacts of the Golden Horde (Volga Bulgaria was its part) with Islamic and Christian states.
