On 4 February 2020, staff members of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization Kamayeva T. P. and Salnikova V. A. held an information and knowledge event on “No land for us beyond the Volga!” devoted to the defeat of German-fascist troops in the battle of Stalingrad in 1943. This activity was held for the students of the 7th and the 10th grades of Bolgar Residential Cadet School.
Our country celebrates the Day of Military Honor – the Day of the defeat of German-fascist troops by Soviet forces in the battle of Stalingrad – on 2 February. This date was set by Federal law №32-FL from 13 March 1995 “About Days of Military Honor of Russia”. Here, at Stalingrad, a sword of people’s retribution was hung over and got down in Berlin in May 1945. In 1942, a destiny of the entire civilized world was decided at the walls of Stalingrad. The greatest battle in the history of war took place between the Don and Volga rivers.
The students watched a video “The battle of Stalingrad” describing all the stages of the battle from 17 August 1942 to 2 February 1943. During the event, children told about the heroes of the fight in the first person – Jacob Pavlov, Vasiliy Zaitsev, Gulya Korolyova, Mikhail Panikaha and others. In memory of the fallen on the battlefields, a minute of silence was observed and the candle of memory was lit. The event ended with an excursion in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
