On 3 February 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Y. A. held a lecture on “The Day of the defeat of German-fascist troops by Soviet forces in the battle of Stalingrad” for the students of group №8417 in Spassky College of sectoral technology.
The battle of Stalingrad is the largest battle of XX century, which in scope, size and on the results is second to none in the history of the world. It lasted over six months and covered a territory more than 100 thousand square kilometers. The battle began on 17 July 1942 and ended on 2 February 1943. Military activities destroyed almost all residential properties of the city – nearly 42 thousand buildings. In six districts of the city where about half a million people lived there were only close to one and a half thousand residents on 2 February 1943. This fight is an event, which will live in the peoples’ memory forever. In Federal Law, this date was set as Commemoration Day of noble warriors and all the people who demonstrated their unprecedented heroism, courage and high military skill.
At the lecture, children knew about interesting facts connected with the battle of 1942-1943 and saw a presentation about the feat of Soviet people in the battle of Stalingrad.
