On 31 January 2020, a research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Mukhametshin I. D. held an interactive event on “Nature’s secrets – Ancient caverns” for the children of Bolgar kindergarten “Antoshka”. At the event, kids became acquainted with a real natural wonder – caverns on the right bank of the Volga River. One of the caves is 10 thousand years old. A deep ravine in the dark cool forest hides it from prying eyes. This cave was opened in 1953. To date, the recent length mark was recorded in 2011 – 1005 meters. The nearest from Yurievskaya cave, Syukeevskiye caverns were flooded by Kuibyshev reservoir, others were lost somewhere in active mines or simply left no memory about themselves. Therefore, Yurievskaya cave became the only dungeon in the Republic of Tatarstan, which is researched by scientists.
The cavern has its own character and it is very beautiful. Names of the halls prove it – Silver Hall, the Grotto of Rains, Arena, Organ Pipes, the Hall of Baboons. Sparkling ceilings, wonderful formations of various hues and shapes, music of drops and exciting silence… It is clean in the cave, and in winter, it turns into the kingdom of ice. At the event, children watched a film about the formation of the cavern, its mysteries and alarming discoveries. Kids played riddle games, and plunged into the magic underworld. Unusual, mysterious world of caves always had an unexplained attractiveness for people and was different from the earthly world. It is particularly interesting for children to touch its mysteries.
