On 29 January 2020, a methodist of the museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. held a lecture on “Theologian Sh. Mardzhani” at the town mosque. The audience learnt about the life, creativity and reform activity of Great Tatar scientist.
Sh. Mardzhani left a deep trace in historical science. He prepared a six-volume set of life stories of outstanding Muslim figures – a manuscript called “Sufficient about ancestors and greeting to descents”. The audience also knew about a work “Mustafad al-ahbar fi ahvali Kazan va Bolgar” (“Sources on the history of Kazan and Bolgar”). The scientific work contains historical and biographical information about many dynasties and personalities taken from Arabian, Persian and Turkic sources. This book also contains data of epigraphy and numismatics, verbal reports and folk stories. Sh. Mardzhani repeatedly visited Bolgar, climbed up the Small Minaret, pronounced the Adhan and left inscriptions on the minaret. The participants of the lecture became acquainted with manuscript pages of “Useful information about Bolgar”.
