On January 27, 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N. R. held an event on “Besieged Leningrad” for the students of Kukmor comprehensive school №4. This activity is devoted to the Day of Military Honor of Russia – the day of Leningrad’s full exemption from the fascist siege in 1944.
At this event, children learnt about historic moments of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 during the period of Leningrad Blockade: how people survived, helped each other, fought against invaders on the front and at the back. Everyone fought against fascism in his own way – for example, a composer D. Shostakovich wrote his symphony №7 during the hardest days of the siege; footballers played football and the match was broadcast to the front, thereby Soviet people proved their resilience and invincibility.
At the event, schoolchildren knew about a campaign called “Iskra”, a strategic offensive operation of Leningrad and Novgorod, and about mass heroism of soviet soldiers, partisans, simple farmers from the enemy-occupied territories. Students heard the names of their compatriots – residents of Kukmor who also did their best to bring Victory Day. Children listened to symphony №7 of D. Shostakovich, actively answered the questions of a quiz, thereby proving their interest in the subject and that they had previously been familiar with it.
