On December 27, 2019, a researcher of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve Mukhametshin I. D. held an event “Mysteries of antiquity” for students of the MBDOU “Kindergarten Antoshka” of the city of Bolgar Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan. The kindergarten students got acquainted with the traditions of the new year meeting among different peoples. The new year and the traditions of its celebration are known among many peoples since ancient times. This is connected with ancient cults and dates back to the time of the Sumerians. The ancient Romans have traditions associated with the cult of the two-faced Janus. Then it was decided to celebrate the new year on January 1.
For many peoples, the celebration of the new year is associated with natural and agricultural cycles. And only Ivan III ordered to celebrate the new year on September 1, when all taxes and fees were collected. Peter I ordered to celebrate new year on January 1, as well as all Christian Europe. He laid the tradition of a modern holiday with a Christmas tree and fireworks. All this was presented with the help of a presentation. Children got a lot of impressions from the event and plunged into the atmosphere of the new year holiday.
