On December 21, 2019, employees of the Bulgarian Museum-reserve Vagapov R. Z., Sokolikov A. A., Paramonycheva T. N. together with activists of the Children’s regional Duma under the MBOU do “House of children’s creativity” of the Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan held a theatrical event “birthday of Kish Babai” for students of the children’s creativity house associations.
The ancient Turks celebrated the beginning of the renewal of life on the longest night of December. It was believed that on this night the Supreme God Tengre, who rules the world and the deities, created Kish Babai to rule the Winter. Shoo congrese – Winter deity in the longest night showed respect and devotion to Tengre. He was responsible for the cheerful celebration of this great day, which was held around the sacred eternal green tree-spruce. The center of the holiday was the magic rite “Karaten” (from the Tatar “Kara” – black”, “ten” – night).
On the holiday of Kish Babai came fairy-tale characters, including: his beloved daughter Kar Kyzy, light and beautiful Kar bortega (snowflake), the spirit of the forest Shurale, harmful and capricious Ubyrly karchyk (Baba Yaga), sly Fox and Kikimora.
At this event, the children got acquainted with the ancient Tatar legend about a cheerful and kind old man who led the Winter, helped his daughter Kar kyzy and Snowflake (Kar bortega) to save the holiday and make it bright and bright. Fairy-tale characters heartily amused children with various games, dances and jokes.
This event was a positive example of social partnership between the Bulgarian Museum-reserve and the “House of children’s creativity” of the Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan.
