August 14, 2019 employees of the organization Department of the city Gayfutdinova O. A. and the G. I. Salimova held the event “Honey spas – the sweetest holiday” for tourists from the city of Kazan. Savior of the honey feast – day of the folk calendar of the Slavs, on 1 (14) Aug.
The first Spas is called Honey, because the honeycomb in the hives by this time is usually already filled, and beekeepers begin to collect. It was believed that if the beekeeper does not break the honeycomb, the neighboring bees pull out all the honey. Traditionally, it was allowed to eat consecrated honey from that day.
“On the first Saved and the pauper medco will try!”. Beekeepers have had a whole rite of consecration of the honey this day. In the morning beekeepers made the sign of the cross over the hives, chose among them the richest in honey. Selecting hive “broke out” of his cell, and, leaving part of them, carried into the Church. After the mass the priest blessed the “new novelty” and sanctified the honey brought in honeycombs, and the deacon collected “the priest’s share”. Part of the consecrated honey was passed immediately to the poor, congratulating beekeepers with Honey Saviour. And then the holiday continued on apiaries where crowds of children and teenagers gathered. They got a “child’s share.”
Honey ate with bread or various dishes, intoxicating honey drank at feasts, on its basis did a lot of soft drinks, honey cakes and nuts. In ancient sources, honey is described as “the juice from the night dew, the one that bees collect from the flowers of fragrance.” The villagers knew that honey has a special power and is suitable for the treatment of many diseases.
Tourists got acquainted with the traditions of the celebration of the honey Saviour in the Eastern Slavs, remembered Proverbs and sayings associated with this day. At the end of the educational event they were offered a tour of the Museum of Bulgarian civilization.
