This holiday is celebrated on the day of the autumn equinox, when day and night are equalized. In ancient times, when the harvest was harvested, autumn sowing is over – people arranged this holiday. The hostess of the celebration was a girl named Smell. She was chosen from among the beautiful, mischievous, sharp-tongued girls , clothed in Smelly out to the square and there asked her questions. For example, “an axe or an awl?”. If she says “axe”, it was believed that the autumn will be cold — the ice can be broken only with an axe. If the answer was “awl”, it was expected that the autumn will be relatively warm — the ice can be broken and awl. To listen even the elderly and applauded with the words “gravy s bolsin”, i.e. let your divination will come true. Smell had to have light yellow hair because it symbolized the fall, the ears of corn.
On this occasion the children learnt about the traditional Tatar holiday games and amusements, which were held after the autumn field work. And also actively guessed riddles, participated in games, the holiday came to the end with friendly, warm tea drinking.
